Running a business is always going to be tough, stressful work but if there is too much stress it can have harmful effects on your health and on your ability to work at your best. The worst thing about work-related stress is that not only will it cause problems at work, but also in your personal life.
Exercise and be healthy
The health of your mind is affected by the health of your body. If you are unfit and unhealthy you are more likely to be affected by stress, so take care of your body by exercising regularly and eating healthily.
Sleep properly so you wake up refreshed
There are many business owners who say with pride that they get along on only four hours of sleep a night but for most people this would be a disaster. If you do not get enough sleep you will be more likely to make mistakes and be affected by stress.
All of the many tasks you have to complete each day will make you a lot less stressed if you write them all down in a list. You can tick tasks off as you complete them, making them seem much more manageable.
Occasionally escape the modern world
Technology is great for making life easier but it can also be a cause of stress, with people able to contact you whenever and wherever you are, be it through phone calls, emails, text messages, or even Twitter or Facebook.
Try to stop using technology every so often to give your mind a break.
Get other people to reduce the load
If you are the owner of a business, or even a manager, you shouldn’t be trying to take care of every little thing. If you have employees you should hand them certain tasks that are too much for you to handle. Less work for you to do means less stress.
Find a mentor
A big reason why a business owner might be stressed out is that they have to carry a lot of weight on their shoulders, even though they are constantly having to learn on the job. If you haven’t already, consider finding a mentor who can teach you about running a business, or even help you let off some steam.
Take control of your life
There are lots of things that could go wrong in life that cause you stress and give you a bad time, but using our tips means there are ways to take control of your life so you can be happier and work more effectively.
